how can i change the resolution in feisty or gusty to 1280x 800 because everytime i try somthing that the forms say it messes up and i need to reinstall OR how can i get the audio to work in draper drake

use "915resolution"
you can search ubuntu wiki for more information on your specific system but I think it would work for a wide variety of Systems.

ok i downloaded it and i need a lil more detail on how to use it im new to linux so step by step in detail pls

open a console and type this
    sudo apt-get install 915resolution

after entering the password write

sudo gedit /etc/default/915resolution

change the file to seem like this:

mode=3c
XRESO=1280
YRESO=800
BIT=32

and after a restart your desktop resolution should be 1280 * 800.

OH LOL i feel stupid i was looking at the info for a diff linux

ok so i did that and put the resolution in the file like you did above and i rebooted

but nothing changed its still set at 800 *600

did i do somthing wrong?

also when i did

sudo apt-get install 915resolution

i look like it was installing but then somthing showed up saying

E: package 915resolution not found

Try Going to System-> Administration--> Restricted Drivers Manager. Enable any drivers that have to do with your video card, then restart and try to change the rez.
