live CD not loading

Asked by chevganov

I downloaded live cd of Ubuntu 7.10 yesterday and tried to run it. It loads until the start meny where it aks start/install an so on. So it loads the linux kernel and starts loading the operating systema and then it freezes. I tried also the check the cd for errors but the same thing would happen, it freezes when it is almost done with checking it. Any suggestions?
I have HP pavilion dv6000, AMD 1.8Ghz, 1Gb RAM,

Use the "Safe Graphics Mode" or the "Text Mode" instead of choosing "Start or Install Ubuntu".

I didn't resolve the problem yet. When I start loading the cd it just stops and nothing happens. I downloaded the iso file again because some people said that the first day of the release the servers were overwhelmed but the same thing happens. Anybody any suggestions?

You could also try pressing F6 at the boot screen and add the following two options at the end of the line:

acpi=off noapic

I found the best way to get Ubuntu to work on a HP dv6000 laptop is to press F6 at the boot screen and add noapic and nolapic
