Could not download all repository indexes

Asked by bgriggs75

Getting this message when attempting to run upgrade manager in 7.04 - feisty. Seems to be getting stuck on a security update:

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.

My network connection is fine. What is it talking about when it refers to correcting the writing repository in the preferences?

I've been getting the same error myself lately, and I can only attribute it to overly busy activity on the Ubuntu update servers. This error isn't harmful to your system, it will simply prevent you from downloading all the updates available for your computer.

The best thing to do when you get an error such as this is to just try again later, perhaps at a less busy time (I find that nights are the worst times to try to update, and so are early mornings). Once the Ubuntu Gutsy craze calms down, you should see less and less of these problems.

You might be right. I've tried several times but only since Gutsy was released. I think it's causing me to be unable to upgrade, since my Fiesty is not up-to-date.
