7.10 No text in terminal since 16th Oct

Asked by Paul Barron

7.10 No text in terminal since 16th Oct, not even prompt.
I installed Gusty about 10 days ago, all went well untill a couple of days ago.
On opening terminal (Applications\Accessories\terminal a white box appears but there is no prompt and when I type in no text appears.
I lost the boarders to the windows about the same time.

Try re-installing "gnome- terminal" using synaptics package manager. Synaptics is located in system>administration menu of your desktop.

Thanks for taking the time to answere this, I had tried re-installing "gnome-terminal" before asking but that did not change anything.
On moving the pointer to the top left corner of the teminal I noticed the pointer changed tho the "I" shape for highlighting.
I Highlighted the "invisible text" and used the mouse to copy then opened text editor and used the mouse to paste and the prompt was revealed.
I just have to find out how to change the colour of the text.

Looks like the reason I lost the text in the terminal was due to changing System\Preferences\Appearance\Visual Effects from None to Extra
