Asked by Chuck

Skype --failed to fetch on 7.10 upgrade
failed to fetch http://download.skype.com//linux/rep...ackages.gz.404 not found (ip:198.173.5.10.80)

This is my hand-typed message of the error message I get trying to download. It stopped here both times.

Plz help as I am anxious to see 7.10. How can I fix this problem?? Thanx

I have repeatedly tried to delete the Skype program using Synaptic Package Manager. I removed all of it, but I still cannot update to 7.10 because of the ailed to fetch http://download.skype.com//linux/rep...ackages.gz.404 not found (ip:198.173.5.10.80) message.

I restarted the computer. I do not find skype when I search using Synaptic. I have repeatedly tried to update with the same error.

I've learned to look in the repositories. I found and deleted the link on th skype file (whatever) following the instructions offered. Now, I'll see if I have solved this problem. Stay tuned, folks, I know you are as excited as I am to get this workin'.

For the record this is a problem on *their* end, you most likely changed all sources.list entries to gutsy, they don't have a gutsy repository yet, you have to stick with their feisty one for now, which will work fine as it's pretty much all inclusive.
