Asked by Hassan Alamer

I just install ubuntu 10.04 and I have notice the screen resolution is not correct (it shows 1024X768 with refresh rate 0 Hz) and when I go to monitors it says the monitor unknown.
 I have a Asus N53SV, processor i7, nvidia Geforce gt540m 1GB, resolution 1366x768

here is a link for more specifications

Thank you

I Do not know but I will believe so. In Widows, I have to download the graphic driver for intel and then the graphic driver for nvidia.

is that a bad feature in a loptop to have dual video chip ?

Yes it can cause issues as the manufacturers don't give the same love to Linux.

I upgraded my ubuntu from 10.04 to 10.10 and the resolution was fixed and the monitor detection as well.
