how to change root forgot password

If there is only one user with sudo privileges you're going to find it impossible to add another user, change your password, or switch to root. That's really the point of user security. If the computer is yours I would start from scratch with your own fresh copy of Ubuntu. If you can't log into the computer at all, you'll probably have to download and burn an Ubuntu CD on another computer in order to do this.

Thank you.I got the password reset,now though when I tried to download a media edeting program I got this message and dont know how to run it.
E:dpkg was interupted, you must manually run'dpkg--configure -a
to correct the problem
