Partitions Help

Asked by ChronicFuse

I want to make two partitions on my computer once that just has the ubuntu o/s on it and the other space for the programs, music stuff like that. I was wondering if that is possible and I would go about doing that. Any help would be great.

there is an excellent partitioning software in ubuntu called gparted... you can run this from the ubuntu live cd if you want to resize your existing ubuntu system partition. If you are resizing other partitions, and you are in Ubuntu you may just have to install gparted (it's left out of the default install for some reason)

sudo apt-get install gparted

please also refer the FAQ for more detailed info

Please note that some earlier versions of gparted do not support moving partitions. Understand the limitations of your version of gparted before doing anything.

Can you help with this problem?
