Ubuntu 9.40 - Forgot password? Reset?

Hei, Jeg har Ubuntu 9.40 på min PC. Siden jeg ikke brukte Ubuntu på en stund, har jeg glemt passordet mitt slik at jeg ikke kommer inn i systemt. Finnes det noen måte jeg kan resette passordet mitt? Alternativt, kan jeg gjerne installene Ubuntu 11.4(når den en tilgjengelig eller 10.10) hvis dette kan løse problemet. Kan jeg få litt veilednign hvordan dette kan gjøres? Jeg har to operative systemer på PC (Ubuntu/ Windows)Jeg er nybgynner når det gjelder linux, men vil gjerne lære mer.

Hy, I am running Ububtu 9.40 on my PC in addition to Windows xp. Since I ddi not use the Ububtu for a while, I can't remember the password in order to get in the system. Are there any ways to reset the password? Alternatively, I am happy to delete 9.40 and install the newer version if that solves the problem. I do not have any important documents on Ububtu OS. I am a new beginer at linux. thus the solution should not be very complex.
