down load digital movies

Asked by John Mitchell

I have a kodak digital camera that takes still photos and movies. Ubuntu downloads the stills very well, but can't do anything with the movies. I have a Mac and a WinXP computer as well. They both download the movieswith no problem. Why can't Ubuntu do the same? John

Which camera do you have ? What happens to the movies when you try to download them in ubuntu ? Please be a little more specific.

Do you have these packages installed?
      gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
      gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
      gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse
      gstreamer0.10-pitfdll

If not, try installing those, note that you may need to enable the universe+multiverse repositories if you haven't done so.

You may also want

gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse

I can't remember exactly which one it is.

Can you help with this problem?
