How do I replace a lost xorg.conf file?

Asked by UKThom

I was asked to post my xorg.conf file contents to a post on Launchpad some time ago, and have discovered that I have actually, accidentally, deleted my xorg.conf file. I have the .original file, which must be what my desktop has reverted to running, but I was wondering if it's possible to replace the missing file? If so, how might one do that? Do I need to do a complete re-install of X???

Thanks!

There are 3 ways to approach this,
1. Open a terminal and 'cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.original /etc/X11/xorg.conf'
2. Open a terminal and 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg' make sure you know you graphics card, monitor size.
3. If X isnt broken don't mess with it.

Thanks,
