4GB is the bare minimum, you will actually need more HD space to use Ubuntu efficiently. Please give us more info on your computer setup, HD size, windows or other OS version (if any) installed. There may be options to free up some space for your new Ubuntu install.

Wait.. This doesn't sound right. It'll require about 4GB _harddisk_ space, not memory. It sounds like you're confusing processor speed (maybe you mean 1.82GHz?) and space (4GB). It also needs the space to be unpartitioned space, meaning it's not enough to have some free space in Windows. However, booting from the live-cd should not be a problem in any case.

If your sure you want to do away with windows and any files that may be on your HD. Boot from the LiveCD and when you start the install and get to the partition screen use "Guided use entire disk".

Welcome to Ubuntu Linux!
