Hide/Display desktop icons - right click desktop menu

Asked by Savvas Radevic

Do you know if there is available a package with "hide icons"/"display icons" for the desktop right click menu?
I mean, when I right click on the desktop and select "hide icons" to show only the background. Is that possible?

not in a right click menu, you'll have to run gconf-editor select apps>nautilus>desktop select or deselect what you want from here.

Instead of using the right-click menu... how about adding a "clean desktop" option to the workspace-switcher? This would add 1 extra desktop that is icon free.

That way users could switch back and forth with the same ease that they switch desktops now.

I found one solution to Reload the Desktop icons and the ability to Right click on the desktop.

You Need:
The latest version of Nautilus installed
Also for some help or you can search your own way.
deskbar-applet

Solution:

Open up your Search program> Search for "nautilus" > Once you have found it, double click on it to restart it.

Your icons and right click functions should be repaired.
