Does Audio Lag Behind Video?

I ripped my first DVD with K9 and noticed the audio in the Xvid rip seemed lag very slightly behind the video. Does anyone notice this or am I crazy or something.
I'm using Ubuntu Feisty - and k9 version 3.5.6

Generally speaking this sometimes happens, some players let you set frames per second and sound delay manually (e.g. mplayer).
