Remap left-side <alt><tab> to right-side <alt><tab>

Asked by Alan Stancliff

I am a new Ubuntu user from the country of Windozelandia. I have only one Tab key on my keyboard, on the left side. The <alt><tab> works as a task switcher, but only when I use the <alt> key on the right side. Because of the layout of my rather unusual physical keyboard, I need to be able to use the <alt> key on the left side. Is there a way to remap the left-side <alt><tab> key to function as the right <alt><tab> key?

If it makes any difference, I have two software keyboard layouts that I use, English USA and Spanish, Latin America, and I can switch between them on the fly by depressing both <alt> keys.

I use a Kinesis keyboard with a Dvorak layout.

Regards,

Alan

What I'd try is edit the shortcut key for task switcher.
You can do this by clicking on System, then Preferences
and finally on Keyboard Shortcuts. This will open a window
to edit shortcut keys. The one you want to edit is under
'Window Management', labelled as 'Move between windows
with pop up'.

Hope this helps,

Nico

Thank you Nicolas Riesco. Usted es muy amable. It appears Linux calls my right <alt> key something like "modS" or "mod5," not sure which. But I was able to modify it without any problem once I read your message.

I came here because my posting of the question on the Ubuntu forum did not get a useful solution (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=570357).

Alan
