When (or where) can we expect a recent version of LyX to be supported by Ubuntu?

Cheers,
Frederic

Current lyx on Gutsy is 1.5.0. This is slightly outdated (current is 1.5.2, released today). I am not sure there will be time to upgrade to 1.5.2 on Gutsy given we are on release freeze now, with about a week to the Gutsy release.

Nevertheless, 1.5.0 has been considered with problems when dealing with compressed files (seems to affect lyx on Windows only). I am guessing that an upgrade to 1.5.2 will either come on the new Ubuntu version (8.04), or be proposed as a backport to Gutsy.

The easiest way is to find out is looking at http://packages.ubuntu.com/ which lists all of the current packages for each version of Ubuntu.
