winehg.org

Asked by martinehancock

Mr Bhavani told me to use "winehg.org" to download windows files. but I have a problem that I cannot see what files it will download. I am trying to download my printer drive which is a Canon PixmariP1200 but it will not download because I guess it does not support Linux.
Can you help, most importantly how to get winehg.org to work.
Thank you
Martin

There is a linux driver for this printer available here: http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/software/linux/

You do not need wine to install it and in fact, wine has absolutely nothing to do with drivers whatsoever.

Hello !

Wine is actually made to be able to run native Windows applications in a Linux environment ... Unfortunately, in your case, it won't help you, as you're looking for a printer driver, which is not just any software ...

You can use the driver for iP2200, which is reported to work, or use the Turboprint driver ...

Please read here about it : http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-PIXMA_iP1200

Benoît

If it doesn't work with iP2200 you would be best to use the Official driver from the manufacturer for that printer available here:

http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/software/linux/

As I said before
