please type this *exactly* in a terminal and post the result here :

set | grep -a -E '^(LC|LANG)'

this will help us find the source of the problem. What Ubuntu version are you using (Dapper, Breezy, 5.10...) ? What language did you choose at installation and for your GNOME session ?

The output of the command seems normal. Comparing with my system (not exactly the same because I use french locale), I can't find anything strange.
Please verify in Synaptic (System Menu -> Administration -> Package manager) that you have the following packages installed :
belocs-locales-bin
locales
language-pack-en
language-support-en

If they are correctly installed, I won't be able to help you more, I don't know where these warning come from. Anyway, i've encountered them in the past, and they are harmless : they don't imply that gvim will not work !

best regards,

Olivier

kakarla, you should really open your own support ticket via https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+addticket

Are you using the add/remove applications program to install? If so which version of realplayer are you trying to install?
