clamav newly installed software does not show in apps menu

I downloaded a new ap from Ubuntu but does not show in applications menu

Which app is it? They don't ALL show in there.

sometimes they don't show for some reason. if it's a program meant to be invoked from the terminal, it won't show. otherwise, press ALT+F2 then type alacarte.

on the popup, click each of the the menu items on the left side and look for the program on the right side. when you see it, click the box and it'll appear on the menu.

for some programs, you have to install the graphical interface separately from another program.

which program are you having problems with?

Hello, I tried this and could not find it. The ap was clamav. Also
gramofile.

Hello, the aps I downloaded were, clamav and gramofile.

it's one of those programs you have to access via the terminal. however, there is a graphical interface called clamtk but it's not very functional.

I recommend you tun:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-clamav/ppa; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade; sudo freshclam

To get later defs and engine.
