I provided help at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/14129
In your case, it is best to get help from Verizon, or other users of Verizon.

There are chances you are affected by the same question as
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/14511
There are steps you need to take that require some technical skills.
Contacting Verizon may be easier for you.

ANYBODY THAT READS MY QUESTIONS PLEASE READ PERFECTLY!!!! I DO NOT HAVE VERIZON!!

I do not have Verizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said before, Windows XP connects perfectly. Ubuntu 7.04 does connect.

And bellsouth is the email address not Verizon. They have been contacted and they can't do anything with Ubuntu.

CAN SOMEBODY ELSE ANSWER THIS THAT UNDERSTANDS THIS!

We offer help for free, so we are not bound to solve questions.
If you want to solve your problem, be kind and provide all information available, otherwise we won't help you. I hope this is clear.

Do you have a router or a modem? Can you see your device in System→Administration→Network? Settings are correct?

See question 14129. I have given a very large amount of information there and I have been getting answers like see Verizon (see above) and I don't even have Verizon. Please play smart this time and check all the information. I still believe this is a bug but they refuse to call it a bug.

As you can see in your older ticket, which has been replied a lot with hopefully sufficient stuff, this problem came from the configuration of your modem/system ... So it was not a bug after all ...

So please next time just calm down before posting, as getting mad at everyone won't help you and will just make us reluctant to help you ...

Regards,
Benoît

So if Windows Xp Works and the light is on then why not Ubuntu. So how do you configure it differently than WindowsXp and then please explain to me why it works sometimes and does'nt work at other times. The modem is perfectly good but it works as designed and it looks like Ubuntu has the problem not the configuration of the modem!!!!

Your answer does not make any sense!!
