[Invalid duplicate] Acer 3810TZ crashes on resuming from suspend

Asked by Robert Stanford

Hi,

Just installed 10:10 64bit (dual boot) on my Acer 3810TZ it suspends OK but every time I resume the machine shuts down without any messages after about two seconds (I am not sure if this is a crash or shutdown).

Prior to installing dual boot I was running 64 bit Wubi and suspend worked without any issues.

Hibernate is working OK but us slow (as always).

Please can you help?

Thanks

Robert

This question should be marked Invalid, as it is an exact duplicate of https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+question/145989.

Can someone please explain what is going on here:

Both duplicates are referring back to my original posting which I only posted once.

Am I missing/misunderstanding something?

Best regards,

Robert

You should not generally post more than one question about the same issue. Situations where it makes sense to do so are rare, typically being limited to when both (1) the problem has changed substantially since the original question was posted and (2) the original question has become so large (with additional postings) that the people helping you have requested that a new question be created.

It is true that no one has yet replied to your original question. Hopefully someone knowledgeable about the issue affecting you will be able to get to it soon.

When I saw that this question was a duplicate of that one, I posted here to indicate that. Since I am not an administrator, I cannot actually change a question's status to Invalid. Since marcobra is an administrator, he noticed that the question is a duplicate, and marked it as Invalid; the second message you see his explanation for why he did so (this kind of change in status tends to be accompanied by an explanation). That's the reason you see two similar-seeming posts here.

If you are not aware that you posted twice, it might be that you clicked the button twice to submit your original question.

In any case, hopefully someone will be able to help you soon. That will not happen here, but rather at your original question (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi/+question/145989), which is still marked Open.

Thank you Eliah,

I did not create two questions intentionally. However, I believe that my cat
decided to jump on my lap at about the time that I posted the question so
its possible that a key was pressed twice.

Sorry for any confusion caused and thank you for taking the time to resolve
my confusion.

Best wishes

Robert

I have discovered a work around to this bug which is described here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/405120

I have amended grub and suspend is working perfectly. I guess this needs resolving without the workaround.

Thanks,

Robert
