I have Athlon 64X2 dual core, ubuntu loads with live noapic option but doesn't detect graphics, xserver says resolution not supported when loading with live cd ver 5.04

Asked by Roy

I have Athlon 64X2 dual core M2nMX with 1gig Ram,nforce 6100 graphics adapter
ubuntu loads with live noapic option but doesn't detect graphics, xserver says resolution not supported when loading live cd ver 5.04,
After detecting graphics h/w, when it asks to deselect the resolution which xserver should not use, I do not know which key to use to select a particular resolution so i press the enter key and land up in the $ prompt wihout any gui. Am i doing it right?
if not, how do I deslect or select the resolution required by Xserver?

Does ver 5.04 support the dual core processor or the graphics adapter anway?
I think it should run in the gui mode at 1024*768

Hi,

Ubuntu 5.04 is old and it is no longer supported. Try again using 7.04 or wait a few days and the try the new 7.10.

Best regards,
Flavius

5.04 is archaic and probably doesn't support most of your hardware (which was designed after 5.04 was released) As Flavius said, you will need a more recent release.

Can you help with this problem?
