You can run a limited amount of Windows applications by emulation them using applications like Wine or CrossOver. Wine is free and is available through the standard repositories. If I recall correctly, CrossOver is not free and can be bought from the CrossOver website.

Take note that not all applications might work 100% correctly as they do on Windows. The most ideal situation is for you to look for Linux alternatives of the Windows applications you want to run.
