Large files do not copy from disk to hard drive in Edgy

Asked by Susan Cragin

I am unable to copy large files from a CD to my hard drive.
Had no trouble copying same files to same folder (Desktop) in Dapper.
Basically, according to my test, any file over 512 KB cannot be copied from a CD to the hard drive.

Please refer to bug 17881 re: copying from a flash drive, which I believe may have reported the same sort of problem.
After looking at things again, the problem seems to be partially the size of the file, and partially the total amount of material that needs to be copied, but I am not sure.

I encountered a similar problem with nautilus under Edgy. It seems the copy dialog progress meter always grows, and nothing is copied. this could be a nautilus bug. As I switched back to Dapper, I won't open a bug, but I think you should.

Hi, Olivier,
I posted a cross-reference to bug #17881, which is probably the same problem and has a great deal of info already posted. If you think it needs another bug, let me know!
A bientot
Susan
