Ubuntu on HP Pavilion t3000 desktop

Asked by MIkael Andersson

I have an Ubuntu live-CD which I tried to install on my pavilion desktop. Everything seems to work just fine in the beginning. I get into the boot menu. However, after having clicked "install Ubuntu" the screen goes black, CD drive continues working for a while. Then it all just stops. Tried the same CD on a compaq nc6400 laptop and everything works fine there.
Could it have something to do with the graphics drivers? The gpu is integrated on the motherboard. I wonder if Ubuntu has difficulties detecting this? Tried both Kbuntu and Ubuntu without success. Also tried to change some option flags (F6) in the boot menu without any improvements.

There is an AMD Sempron CPU installed in the pavilion desktop pc.

Hope someone can help with this.
