plug and play bios error, on dell gx-240,

on two different dell gx240s I get a plug and play error , one a plug and play configuration error press f1 on startup. the other on idle it shuts down completely saying a plug and play bios error must restart. The first one it doesnt even have to have an OS it shows right after bios screen. the second computer is running ubuntu 7.04

Basically that would mean your computer is not happy about some card, try removing expansion cards.

About that second computer, you could try disabling power management, or disable acpi all together with a kernel parameter (acpi=off).
