6.06 Installation Crash

Asked by Tad Brisson

I am trying to install Ubuntu 6.06 LTS on my two month-old Toshiba Portege S100-S1132. I get all the way through the installer (this is a Live CD, by the way) but then the installer crashes. I believe it's doing this around the time the program tells me that it is detecting a floppy drive, which I don't have. I am clueless and have no idea what to do. I think that I'm fairly computer-savvy, but I am stuck. I love this operating system, and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. If someone could please lend me some ideas as to what the problem could be, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

You could try the alternate CD installiation, or check your current CD to see if it is curropted, you can do this by inserting the Cd into the drive and then rebooting and highlighing the "Check for CD defects" option (May be named something similar)
