which flavor of ubuntu to be used for intel 7300

i want to know which flavor of the ubuntu is to be used for intel7300 ?
is it ok if i use the 64bit version( amd64 and intel64 bit pcs)

Processors support 64bits OS for quite some time.
So yes, with a Core2Duo 7300, you can surely use a 64 bits Ubuntu. But please remember that you may have some problems that you won't have with the 32 bits version (like with some plugins as Flash under Firefox), and the performance increase is probably not that huge.

I use the 64 bit version. It's nice, but it's way more challenging than it should be. Other distros do a much better job with 64 bit compatibility. I would recomend the 32 bit version unless you plan on doing some serious number crunching, like 3D rendering or video editing.

You'll get anywhere from 1 - 3 times the speed, but most likely the same as 32 bit.
