When will OpenOffice 2.3 be added to Ubuntu repositories?

Asked by Rinaldus

When will OpenOffice 2.3 be added to Ubuntu repositories? I'm afraid to install it manually from .deb package from official site because it didn't tested in Ubuntu and Ubuntu developers could apply some patches to it.

Hi,

OpenOffice.org 2.3 is already in Gutsy Gibbon, the upcoming Ubuntu release, which is plannified to mid-october 2007. So You will have it when you upgrade you system to gutsy (please wait for gutsy to be release if you're not familiar with release testing and/or development).

Eventually, if someone is interested in doing it, OpenOffice.org 2.3 packages will be backported from Gutsy to any of the other Ubuntu releases (Feisty or Dapper), but I don't know if this is planned by someone or not at the moment.

regards,
Olivier
