D: E: F: are the name of partitions under Windows. It's not called like this under linux. Most of the time, other partitions will be available in the /media directory.

When installing Ubuntu, it should see your Windows partitions and automatically mount them. But they will have the name of the partition, not D: or E:. They should be displayed on the desktop. Do you see any icon looking like an harddrive?

Can you help with this problem?
