I have an ALi ULi 1689,1573 integrated PCI Ethernet card, but it won't work, what do I do?

Asked by WebMajor

Everything else is fine, I think, but I can't access the internet or my local network. Ubuntu recognises that the network adapter is there, but obviously can't use it without a driver or something. How do I get it working? Please simplify any instructions, I'm a bit of a beginner!

No driver should be needed. Can you see your connection (wired connection) in System-->Administration-->Network?

First, try the basic procudere here: https://help.ubuntu.com/7.04/internet/C/connect-to-internet.html#internet-basic-procedure

You will need some basic information about your local network, such as is dhcp enabled or should you use static addresses etc.. If you tell us some more about your setup maybe we'll be able to help you with this.

Can you help with this problem?
