gdm splash

Asked by Richard Seguin

I am not getting a gdm splash screen after a valid username and password is entered, it just starts gnome right away. Is gusty going to come with the splash screen enabled? and if so, how do I enable it?

Thanks,

Richard

Not on default, there is a discussion about this on the forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=546484

But you can enable it easily. There are some tools that can do that:
- gconf-editor, run it from terminal and find splash screen configuration in apps-->gnome session-->options
- gnome-splashscreen-manager, install and activate a splash of your choosing.

Both can be installed through synaptic, adept or using any other standard method. Gnome-splashscreen-manager is in the universe repository, so you have to have it enabled.
