Post installation

Asked by j.m.hawk

Decided to put Ubuntu 10.10 on my Desktop using the installation CD.
Have two HDs. In windows world called C: and E: I put Ubuntu on E: The installation went off without any problems. I let it make all the decision on space allocations.
Now have Dual Boot option on start up. So far so good.
Two problems and any help would be appreciated.
1 When i get into Ubuntu OS it can't detect C: my first HD.
2 I have a Hawking Dish. It's a wireless USB dish adapter. It gets me out on the internet, and it works extremely well with XP. However Hawking does not seem to make drivers for Linux.
Is there a work around for this?
thanks again

C: and D: are windows constructs so mean very little in Linux. If you run:

sudo fdisk -l

What windows calls a "drive" is really a partition. You may be able to mount the partition from the places menu. If you used wubi then it will be already mounted. Can you give the output of:

mount

Can you also have the USB device attached and run:

lsusb

What is output?

Thanks

click on the menu item named places. your "c:" drive should appear there. instead of seeing "c:", you'll see the label for your "c:" drive. in most cases, if you haven't changed it", it will be Windows

However i can't see myMusic file. Ubuntu sees it as a text file.
Any ideas?
