Installing 7.04 from CD

Asked by goat64

I have an Ubuntu 7.04 CD but have been afraid to install. One option listed asks if I want to uninstall my current OS, which is Windows XP. Can this be done easily by a beginner to Ubuntu? I am uncertain as to what the out come may be if I try this.I have also read of difficulties concerning the correct installation of the Partition to enable the use of a dual OS.

Thanks

hi,

i guess you don't want to uninstall Windows XP. What you probably want is to resize your windows partition in case you don't free on your hard disc(s). before doing that you should make a backup of your data.
i you don't trust the ubuntu resizer you could also use programs like partition magic or by another hard disc.
if you have the free space the installer has an option for using it.

the rest of the installation should be straight forward. just give it a try...

Can you help with this problem?
