Cannot install Ubuntu on ASUS F5GL

Asked by Vašek

I am using Ubuntu on several computers, but I am not able install it on Asus F5GL. Using Live CD is necessary set nomodeset for full function. But for install it doesn't work for me. Installation seems be successful, but when I want to restart my PC, the violet screen with logo Ubuntu makes the small points red a short time and after this it is frozen. Sometime this process finished on full desktop with panels, but nothing happened when I moved cursor on any items. I tryed maverick meerkat, lucid, both from regular CDs, from alternate CDs, with nomodeset, with noacpi etc.
Who can help?

Did you MD5 test the ISOs you burned?
If you log in as another user, is the desktop ok?

Yes, I checked MD5 and my installation CDs works on another PCs great.
I think I cannot login as another user, because I created right one account.
I can create another account, but mostly my laptop is frozened before login screen.

I am trying to resolve this problem maybe three months and I had search on web, forums, FAQs etc.
I can guess that problem is with graphic card nvidia, but I don't understand this.

If you hold shift at boot, select recovery mode then select root, you can create a user there, so the hanging of the X server is bypassed as it simply is not told to load in this mode.

Can you help with this problem?
