How can I update Ubuntu from OpenOffice 2.2 to 2.3

Asked by Dick

How to update Ubuntu 7.04 from OpenOffice 2.2 to OpenOffice 2.3. I have downloaded the zipped Linux 2.3 file from the OpenOffice site and extracted the folder OOG680_m5_native_packed-1_enUS.9221, which is apparently an RPM installation with a Java shell script. But I'm too new to Linux to figure out how to run it on Ubuntu. I want to replace the 2.2 version with the 2.3 version of OpenOffice.

There is some documentation about installing different types of packages: https://help.ubuntu.com/7.04/add-applications/C/index.html, Let me know if you need some more detailed explanation.

The recommended way would be to wait for gutsy, due in three weeks, which comes with openoffice 2.3.

Moreover you can download a .deb package from the openoffice site that would be more suitable for your ubuntu.
