How to copy files easily to/from terminal server?

Asked by Janos Kotai

I am new to Ubuntu and linux at all and could not found the possibly self-evident solution of the following problem.
I conect to a remote (Windows) machine via "Terminal Server Client" (in Gnome environment). I can operate the remote server with ease but can not copy files from/to my own box from/to the server. Is there an effective solution? E.g. cut and paste anyhow? (I can not install anything on the remote server.)

If you set up samba on ubuntu, you'll be able to map a drive to ubuntu on the terminal server.

Of if the terminal server is XP, you might be able to use

rdesktop -r disk:ubuntu=/ <rest of your options and host>

then map \\tsclient\ubuntu

I've never tested how that works, it's mentioned in rdesktop's man page.

Thank you chesty, but it is not allowed by policy to install/setup anything on Windows server. If I connected by a Windows client I could copy files up and down. With linux I can establish the connection via rdp using 'Terminal Server Client' application, can read, write, execute files on Windows server, but cant find the way to copy files to/from my Linux client.

Can you help with this problem?
