How Can I Install Ubuntu And Still Keep Windows ME?

When I was about to install Ubuntu when i booted from the live cd it gave me a list of steps(when i clicked the install button.) until it got to the step with the percent of partition space and then I started to think that it will format over my existing windows software so i quit the installing of Ubuntu. Is there anyway anybody can help me keep my windows software and Ubuntu on the same hard drive?
