Can you provide some details of your graphics card, and your printer please? You should be able to install a printer from System -> Administration -> Printers
Regarding your sound card : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TASCAM_US-122 -> This might help.

Let's start with the obvious.

Let us see what your graphics card is for a start. This will involve usage of the command line, so bear with me please.
First, have you installed it, or are you running from the command line? Also, is it Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn? If you don't know, click System -> About Ubuntu.
Second, go to the Applications button in the top left corner, click it, click Accessories in the drop down menu, and click Terminal.
In the terminal window, copy and paste this line of code. Use rightclick press to paste, not CTRL+V :

lspci | grep VGA

Then, select the output of that command, right click it, press Copy and then paste it here.

Once we know the details of the graphics card, we can continue solving your other problems.

Is your Tascam 122 sound card an external one? USB? Just to confirm, please.

Also, regarding your printer, it would help if you tell us what type of printer it is. HP? Lexmark? Canon?

sorry about the support here, its kinda slow

i never got the default cube to work but i got a program called compiz-fusion to work which does the same thing and more

im believing you are the admin on the comp so
go to synaptic( System->Administration->Synaptic package manager ), it will ask for you password, enter it and continue

click in the packages area( where it says "2vcard" and "3dchess") then type "compiz"
it should filter out the packages and take you to a package called"compiz"

click teh white box, it will come up with options, click "mark for installation"
there should be a yellow arrow put over it

make sure these are marked
- Compiz
- CompizConfig-Setting-Manager
- Compiz-core
- compiz-fusion-plugins-extra
- compiz-fusion-plugins-main
- compiz-gnome
- compiz-plugins

Note: it may say that compiz core can update but it wont update, at least it does that for me

im allittle unsure about this part because i have alwaysed used the beryl manager to start the effects but
enable desktop effects (assuming you dont get a white screen) go to System-> preferences-> compiz config settings manager and you can pick your effects.
the cube effect is a combonation of the "cube desktop" and the "rotate cube" plugins

Note: if your settings dont seem to change, disable and re-enable the desktop effects.

sorry, as for the sound card and printer im unexperienced at but at least this is a suggestion to your cube effect.
all the notes are stuff that happens to me so they might even not happen to you because i have a older card then you

Beber, when you download a file, your browser generally uses a temporary file, unless you specify a location on your hard drive for it to put the information/files. For example, I have created a folder that is labeled "Downloads" and then sub-folders within that folder to keep the information and files I download organised. Assuming you're using Firefox, if you hit Ctrl-Y or click Tools > Downloads, you will see the files that you have downloaded since you last booted up the machine. Keep in mind, because these files are stored in a temporary folder, when you shut down, they are lost.

Also, regarding the Compiz Config file, if you have installed Compiz, that is one of the packages you have downloaded. To be sure, open a terminal window and do the following:

sudo apt-get install compiz

Or, you can follow the instructions above, using the Synaptic Package Manager, and make sure you have all of the recommended files installed.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

the 'Compiz Config-Setting-Manager' package is the settings controller, it should show up in preferences directory as "CompizConfig Setting Manager", like the third on the list (if default menu)

i use 'GL Desktop', 'Beryl' and 'Emerald' packages to get my exact details about my effects and themes and efficiently too.
just a suggestion.

Can you help with this problem?
