Installing Ubuntu (Disk Partitioning)

Asked by greengorilla

I have been struggling for hours to find out how to install Ubuntu from disks I've bought. I am not a techie and I have never partitioned a disk before. The Ubuntu install Graphical Install instructions are not sufficiently clear how to partition a disk so as to save existing data. I would like to run Ubuntu alongside Windows until the former is properly established. Hence my need to partition the disk in order to save existing data.

Is there any information you can give how I can do this safely?
