i have Vista(prem). Want to get ubuntu by partitioning

I have got a new laptop with vista premium home edition. Now i want get dual booting with ubuntu in the system. I have in total 2 GB RAM.
Could it be sucessfully done. Will it create any problem with the vista .

You can download the Ubuntu live cd and try to install using it. It has a disk partitioner and is easy to install.
I have Vista and Ubuntu in my laptop without any problem.
With the partitioner, using the manual partitioning option, you can resize, delete and create partitions.
