It cannot be installed because the computer is too old, or because of some particular hardware?

Unless the computer is really old, it can be installed. There can be problems with some recent hardwares, but usually there are solutions. HP can be quite troublesome though.

But the beauty of the LiveCD is to allow you to test without installing anything. If the LiveCD doesn't not work, you know you have some problems to solve. If it's working fine, you can be confident about your install. Just give it a try.

I have a HP Pavilion and Ubuntu works very fine. What kind of laptop he has ??? The model name can be a good start to understand if it's true what you have post.

Thanks many
