Gutsy: How to enable bluetooth mouse with new BT manager?

Asked by P4man

My bluetooth mouse used to work under Gutsy. Now there is a new "bluetooth manager" application, which sees my mouse (logitech travelmate), it will indicate a connection icon when it is active, it is set as trusted.. but it won't work as mouse ?

When I try to add it under input devices, it doesnt show up, although it does show up under "bonded devices".

Any idea's ?

Did you check if the "input service" is running? You can activate/deactivate it somewhere in the interface. I don't have a bluetooth mouse though, so that's just an idea...

Yes, the service is running. Tried restarting restarting bluetooth, and anything I could think off. No go. I should probably turn this into a bug report.

The UI is clearly not very intuitive yet. I had the same issue, for some reason the mouse was bonded before I did anything (but not really connected). Try going to the services tab, select the input service option, and at the bottom of the window choose the "add" button. Then your mouse should show up in the list and you should be in business.

Sorry I didn't read your question fully. I didn't realize that you had added it through the input section. My only suggestion would be to push the connect button on your mouse if you have one.

My bluetooth mouse and bt headset don't work on the the newest Gutsy (date 16.10.2007.): bt mouse is paired and trusted but do nothing, bt headset is unrecognizable. Hidd enabled in bt.config. Tried today both under Feisty: works both.
Over bluetooth I can send/receive files between my phone (Motoming) and my notebook (Compaq nc6120)

Solved in five easy steps:
1, started windows xp from grub menu
2, started Acronis Disk Director Suite and deleted all linux partitions, unallocated place added to NTFS partition D:
3, started Acronis True Image Home and restored mbr from Acronis Secure Zone
4. restarted notebook and windows xp professional started automatically
5, bt mouse, bt headset, syncronisation with linux-smartphone works again:)
