I just set up a server running Ubuntu server. First 2 days had no problem. All of a sudden I cant write files, or do anything (change permissions, owner, basically any modifications) to any of my drives. including the OS drive.

I really havent made any changes, other than setting up a samba server. can someone help me?????

Brian.
I have run into this before. In my instance, the issue was that the filesystem became corrupt from a disk error. In an attempt to stop me from causing further damage, Ubuntu was "doing the right thing" and preventing me from messing things up further.

I would take a look through the output of the 'dmesg' command, and see if you see anything there related to disk errors.
