Recommended hardware for Ubuntu amd 64 version.

I'm building a computer and have decided to try Ubuntu. I would like to get an amd 64 type processor motherboard. I would like to know what brands/models of motherboards work well with Ubuntu. One of my friends suggested that this site would have a list of supported hardware, which I have not found. If anyone could please direct me to such a list, I would really appreciate it.
