Window borders missing when running Beryl

Asked by steveb001

HI
I've recently installed Beryl (and, I think, all the necessary additional stuff as well) and am trying to use Beryl as my window manager. However, when I do this, I lose the borders on all of my windows.

I have read several other threads on this subject and have made sure that the Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True" is present in the device section of my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. However, this makes no difference and the borders are still missing.

I am currently using compiz as my window manager, so at least i can get some effects, but I really want to run Beryl so I can have the full range of visuals available.

Does anyone have any ideas how to re-enable the windo borders under Beryl?

Many thanks in advance

well the compiz and beryl are back together again, its called compiz-fusion

you can download it and the emerald theme manager and beryl(because of the manager)
then left click the beryl icon on your tray, click "select window manger" pick compiz
then click it again and go to "select theme manager"( i think) and pick emerald

you should have them back and if you dont then try the heliodor manager(this will give you your gnome theme)

this is what i did because the GTK never worked for me

Thanks for the help. I installed heliodor as suggested and it works a treat. The only downside is that I can't use any of the Emerald themes that I have downloaded. Never mind, I'll go hunting for a new metacity theme.

Thanks once again for your help.

I have the same problem, except when I choose "select windows manager" to compiz, I lose my 3-D cube and windows properties.

Any idea's?
