Driver for Buslink usb hard drive

I have a usb external hard drive that I was using on Windows XP and now I wish to use it on Ubuntu 7.04. When I connect it there is no recognition of it. It is a Buslink Model L20/20GB. I checked the Mfrs web site but could find no driver for Linux. I seem to have read somewhere that most hardware drivers for linux are available someplace. Anybody?

And please do not suggest that I employ the arcane solution posed in Steve Gillespie's "7.04 won't recognize usb hard drive". I got part way through that nightmare and gave it up as hopelessly beyond me. I am strictly a gui guy.

I have never used this driver or your model HD so its up to you if its worth the risk. It looks like the guy could use a little testing help and maybe a thank you. If you decide to try that driver, i recommend starting a short thread in the forums sharing your experience for others with the same hardware... and send a scolding email to the companies for not supporting OSS.

Sorry, but that solution is beyond my abilities to comprehend. Half of the stuff is just so much gibberish to me, and my computer would not allow me to even cut/copy and paste the "tarball" into the suggested directory. I am abandoning this idea and will instead buy a drive that is already set up for linux. Somewhere there must be a list of compatible devices. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
