How do I return my gdm to default setting from the command prompt ( mainly disable desktop effects as it is initially)

Asked by toucher5

I was trying out the desktops effects setting and I sent me to the command prompt and will not start gnome. I have tried changing the name of gdm.conf-custom to another name so that it will revert to gdm.conf but that does not work. Is there any suggetions on how to return the settings of the desktop effects to off as it is by default from the command prompt?

Compiz doesn't affects gdm. Take a look of ~/.gnome/session Here you can prevent the starting of compiz.

you can type this at the command promt to remove compiz, that should let your normal window manager load
sudo apt-get remove compiz

Can you help with this problem?
