dvdrip does not launch (or install from source)

Asked by Tim

Dvdrip fails silently when launched from the menu. When launched from the command line, the only message is "Floating point exception (core dumped)"

Installation was done via Synaptic. I have uninstalled, installed all dependiences separately, and reinstalled, with no change. Medibuntu repository is in apt sources, and libdvdcss2 installed.

When attempting to install from source from dvdrip site, the command "perl Makefile.PL" fails with the same floating point exception. It also lists a depedency as not being fufilled, despite the fact I have the appropriate package (gtk2-ex-formfactory-perl) installed via Synaptic

"The following modules are required for dvd::rip but not found on your
system. They're shipped with dvd::rip for your convenience and will be
installed automatically when you run 'make install':
  Gtk2::Ex::FormFactory"
<snip>
"Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Floating point exception (core dumped)"

Acid rip fails with a floating point exception on my system too.

Just found /var/crash :)

_usr_bin_dvdrip.1000.crash
_usr_bin_dvdrip-splash.1000.crash
seems to relate to the binary I installed via Synaptic

_usr_bin_perl.1000.crash
seems to relate to the attempted source install (ProcCmdline: perl -MGtk2::Ex::FormFactory -e1)

Files are too verbose to include here, and I see no attach option. Please let me know if you need them.
