Cant get rid of error

Asked by Judgegeo

Carry on from:

I updated 5.10, upon restart i had errors saying my gui couldnt start. Well now i just boots up ubuntu even with out disks in drives. So i'm stumped as to how to get rid of ubuntu and do a fresh install of 6.04? I have access to the command line so a step by step guide would be much apprecitated.

Thanks.

Hello,
If you want a fresh install of 6.04, the easiest thing to do is to download 6.04 installation CD and format/write over your existing partitions.

Hello Jayson,

Thanks for answering. Only problem is I have the CD in my CDROM on boot but it still boots into Ubuntu.

Hello,

on cd is which version. 5.10 or 6.04?. If you will install a completely new system you should change to the actual stable version feisty. Not to dapper.

Hello,

so if you make a new system i would prefer 7.04. Is really a stable mature version and works fine. It will be easier to upgrade to the next versions. So i would download 7.04 and use this version to build a new system.

Okay, I'm going to download Ubuntu 7.04, I'll see if this helps.

Thanks.

Could anyone provide me with the command line i need to run the Live CD, because it does seem to run.

Maybe the command line to format the current installation?

Thanks.

If your live cd fails to start maybe you should change your boot order in BIOS, so that cd is before the hard drive?
